***NOTICE OF MORATORIUM ON NEW GRANT APPLICATIONS***
Effective November 30, 2017, at the directive of Gateway’s Board of Directors, a temporary moratorium is in effect for new applications to Gateway’s Clinical Trials Funding Program. All commitments to current grantees will continue to be honored as indicated in Gateway’s Award Letter. For questions about this Notice, contact research@gatewaycr.org.

Vision: Our vision is to shape a world in which a cancer diagnosis is no longer feared.

Mission: Our mission is to fund meaningful and breakthrough clinical trials worldwide that help people living with cancer to feel better, live longer and conquer cancer TODAY!

Information:

We accept Letters of Intent year round.

Full grant applications are by invitation only.

We give priority to those who have their IRB, IND/FDA approval letter already.

As we will likely always have many more applications than we can fund, full grant applications that qualify for a funding recommendation will be prioritized according to the following
(Note: Information on Gateway’s application rating system may be accessed under the “Resources” link at the top of this page):

• Most significant patient impact (i.e., survival and quality of life).
• Ease and speed with which the investigational intervention (“study drug”) has the potential to become standard of care to benefit other cancer patients.
• Potential that a success story can be generated which, in turn, Gateway can use to share with its donor community for donations.

Note:  Gateway emphasizes funding of research that includes truly innovative concepts or approaches with a high potential for success.  Therefore, personalized medicine/precision medicine applications are highly encouraged. For Gateway, personalized medicine (precision medicine) is defined as:Treatment precisely customized to the characteristics of each individual’s tumor and host. Personalized medicine may include complementary therapies, immunotherapies, genomic therapies, and patient preferences.Personalized medicine may include N-of-1 studies, but is not limited to these types of studies. In oncology, personalized medicine and precision medicine are interchangeable.
